PROBLEM:

The City is rewriting the Atlanta Tree Ordinance which will not be revised again for another decade. In early February of 2021 The City Planning Department released its proposed Tree Protection Ordinance draft. The Planning Dept’s draft fails yet again to protect Atlanta’s trees! Further, it destroys the appeals process and does nothing to reduce clear-cutting and mass grading on large properties. 

SOLUTION:
Tell City Council to:
Adopt the “Citizens Group Blended Draft”

The Citizens Group has spent months working with the City and other professionals to create the “Citizens Group Blended Draft”. The Citizens Group Blended Draft saves the best parts of the Planning Dept’s draft, but closes the loopholes and fixes major problems. It includes effective enforcement measures and is fair and balanced – including innovative ways to protect trees while even saving builders time and money.
